Forum Post: RE: OpenPlant Modeller - Speed and Stability

Hi Scott Sorry for not responding sooner. We have had not luck with stabilising our systems (Dell laptops mostly). It is also very difficult to try and report these issues in a production environment, we currently waiting between 1-2 weeks to get some response from TSG.  This is no good for deadlines.  So I have over the years gotten use to either paying for professional service or just sorting it our myself....  Try an try again. Most of our TS requests, changes to change requests as they cannot solve them or the usual, function as design is quoted. I think we have gotten use to getting quick results with Bentley software...  We have gone from zero to full production (on our own mostly) in about 10 weeks (this includes about 6 specs)... We also run another system (smartsomething) and one of my client have been at this for about  6 years with no production system up and running. I still get the results, sometimes a bit frustrating...but at the price and speed I should not complain to much. The system is MUCH slower that the PlantSpace we are use to... moving things is a really BAD idea and takes a very long time...if it does not crash.  Also we have a crash of our display driver on start-up...  We place a pipe, then do a direction change and WHAM or do the first flange and WHAM again. You get use to it. The thing that is most worrying is the speed...  Our PID have gone from 10-12 hours to +40 hours, most of my clients refuse to pay for that and I cant blame them.....  We are back at MS for PID because we can do it in the time... Pitty PlantSpace PID does not run on V8i ;-((. Piping, if you don't move thing around to much seems to be on par with PlantSpace Keep in touch... maybe we can help each other. Spyker
