Wiki Page: Connection Lines in the center of Ball Valves

Hello all,

When placing a ball valve with an actator or an instrument bubble where the connection line connects at the center of the circle (ball) on the valve cell the line will cross the outer edge of the circle. This is usually not desired.

Follow this procedure in order to have the connection lines not show in the middle of the circle.

NOTE: This will only work for DGN mode files and not DWG. DWG does not support the background colors.

Start by editing the HValve_Ball_Open cell located in the Valve.cel cell library.

With the HValve_Ball_Open cell loaded select the circle at the center of the valve. Load Element Information and then locate the General category. Pick the Fill property and set the fill to 255 and UNCHECK the No Fill check box. See below.

Continuing in Element Information and the General category select the Priority field and set this to 5. This will locate the circle in front of other objects. See below.

Now when a Ball valve or Control Valve with a ball body is placed and the actuator is connected and in the case of the Control Valve, the instrument bubble line is defaulted to attach to the center of the valve (a right click when prompted to connect the line will do this automatically), the connection lines will not show. See below of an example Ball Control Valve.

I hope this helps,
