The following manual will let to add “Existing” component attribute to Component preferences dialog, this will let to have Existing attribute enabled upon component placement.
Steps to Accomplish
Open config.ini file from %Project Root%/Config folder. Add “EXISTING = 0” string to the [System.CompPref] section.

Save and close config.ini file.
Open CompPref.ini from the same folder (Project Root/Config) and add folowing section to this file:
[EXISTING]
ToolTip=Existing field switch
Resulttype=index_0
ResultField=EXISTING
Type=FixedList
ApplocationType=Piping
NumList=2
List1=OFF
List2=ON
Filter=OFF
ComPrefType=1
Default=OFF
Save and close CompPref.ini file.
Open AutoPlant and load Component Preferences. Right clink on dialog window and select Add Component Preferences.
In the Component Preference Editor set EXISTING value in the result field.
Press Ok.
Now the EXISTING field is available in Component preferences
