Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX Environment: Windows 7 64 bit Area: Component Subarea: Graphics Original Author: Rahul Kumar, Bentley Technical Support Group Overview In OpenPlant Modeler, using custom support cel provided by user, consist of smart solid and feature solids needs attention while placing it on pipeline. Problem Description User requirement was to locate custom support on a pipeline using cell file and to create an isometrics with it. Cell file provided by user consist of smart solids and feature solids with different size available in cell library. Using ‘Place Component from cell’ option through piping task bar currently places the support but it was not getting associated with pipeline and hence no information for supports in isometrics drawing. See image below. Also to notice the support co-ordinates are also not getting defined. Below steps describes the procedure to get all relevant information and to generate correct isometrics drawing. Steps to Resolve Launch OpenPlant Modeler, Select Project unit. Say Metric here. From Piping tab, under row ‘B’, click on ‘Place Component from cell’ option. Navigate to folder containing cell library to select the support cell. Path - C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\Cell. Select any Support, say TEE_SHOE and size DN100 here. Place it in working space and drop element to redefine it as Tee_Shoe custom component. Drop element can be done using key-in command through Utilities menu present in OpenPlant Modeler. Type ‘Drop element’ and press ‘ENTER’ and select the support which needs to be dropped. Note: User may also drop element in cell library and save it to avoid each time dropping elements. Select whole support element and user ‘Create New Custom Component’ option for it. A custom piping component builder dialog will appear. Select discipline as ‘Support’ and pick TEE_SHOE class from ‘Component Type’ drop down dialog. Define Origin point on support and click on create component option. Note – To get the TEE_SHOE in dialog box, user need to add custom attribute in schema. Click here>>> for details. Create new Tag for this custom Support and update the information. From ‘Place User Custom Component’ option, select Support TEE_SHOE and drag it to existing pipeline then follow the guideline shown in message bar. Select Custom Component: Select the Pipe: Enter Point to Select Rotation: Check all information that gets appended. Also generate isometrics and verify results: See Also See Help Menu for 'Add Custom Attributes for a Class' for more details.
