Wiki Page: OPPID: Custom Valves with Connection Points Error - Exception: The Property 'IsFixedOriginOffset' is null in ECInstance

Applies To Workarounds/Errors Product(s): OpenPLANT PID Version(s): 08.11.10.xx Environment: Windows 7 64 bit & Others Area: Component Customization Subarea: Original Author: Brandon Moberg Description: Custom Valves with Connection Points Error - Exception: The Property 'IsFixedOriginOffset' is null in ECInstance When a user creates a custom inline value that requires connection points to break the line errors are then received on placement. This is a known issue and logged as Defect #15388. It is being worked on by the Bentley Plant Development team. Please find below the details: After investigation it was found that it is happening because of Actuator info is not being added to the Valves.cel.sch.ecinstance.xml file for the custom component. Below are the two cases: Error Received: Case A: Creating New valve through component Manager. Create any shape of a valve in drawing using MS tools. Select the elements in the drawing. Launch component manager in OPPID. Create a new valve using elements. Once the valve is created, try placing it in the drawing. It will throw an error in message center. Case B: Modifying the connect points of existing valve. Launch component manager in OPPID. Select CHECK_VALVE from Valve Cell node. Click 'Define or Edit Connect Points'. Click OK without making any changes. Try placing check valve in the drawing. It will throw an error in message center. Actuator info is being removed from valves.cel.sch.ecinstance.xml by editing the connect points of existing valves and the same info is not being added when new valve is created. Please refer to the attached snapshot. Workaround: Add the following to valve.cel.sch.ecinstance.xml or your custom custom_name.ce.sch.ecinstance.xml file for whatever cell was modified/created. 0, 0, 0 0, 1, 0 False As shown below: The Component Manager currently doesn't add in the “Actuator” directional information that the software requires. So to resolve this add this information into your project’s C:\ProgramData\Bentley\PowerPID (SELECTseries 5)\WorkSpace\Projects\OPPowerPID_Imperial\Dataset\cell \valve.cel.sch.ecinstance.xml file or custom file being used. It is important to add it between the and as shown below: Save and Exit. Now open OpenPLANT PID and insert your customized valve without error.
