Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant Isometrics Manager Version(s): 08.11.09.440 & Above Environment: Windows 7 32/64 bit Area: Settings/Attributes Subarea: Original Author: Rahul Kumar, Bentley Technical Support Group Background In OpenPlant isometrics Manager, we can felicitate the detail sketches using configuration manager. Detail sketches are required in drawings to get the clear details of online components & sometimes others as well. Currently in OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, it uses the data stored in a MicroStation cell library, which could be fetched by filling the property fields in OpenPlant Modeler at the time of modelling. Below explanation has been illustrated in context with OpenPlant Modeler & OpenPlant Isometrics Manager. Steps to Accomplish It could be accomplish in two major steps: A. Creation of Cell in Detail Sketch Library Launch Open Plant Isometric configuration manager and open the seed file. From the Menu bar, go to Element>Cells. From the cell library dialog, go to File>Attach file and select “Detail_sketch.cel” from project location. Navigate location to …\%project root%\Isometrics\styles\IFC\cell. Open cell library for editing. Right click on cell name click open for editing. In Detail_sketch.cel file, from the menu bar go to File > Model. Click on “Import models” to import the desired file. Select the DWG/DGN/DXF or other supported format. Once drawing gets selected, it will prompt to add the Model as a Model or a layout. In that case, select “model”. See image below. A new model is being created. Right click on Model name field and rename it, say “Fig-02A". From Drawing Tab, select ‘Place Text’ option. Place Text including an underscore like A_A or use file name as Fig-02A. Modeler may also place the cross references as A_A (Optional). NOTE: A. Place the text where the cross reference is to be placed, change color etc. wherever needed. An underscore is must between the characters. B. This is for automatic cross-referencing, done in sequence “A”, “B”, “C”. If this rule is not necessary, just place a text with the name of the detail sketch, say Fig-02A. Similarly repeat this for other detail sketches. From the menu bar go to File>save settings and exit from file. Scaling & Labelling the Cell Library: When the drawings are imported into the cell library the units and possible UOR (unit of resolution) will be set from the imported model. When placed as detail sketch the size of the sketches in the isometric depends on it. For example: Import the drawing into the cell libraries and measure the sketches as 50 mm square. When used as a detail sketch they end up as 0.5 mm square. This is caused by the cell UOR being 10 subunits per master unit where 1000 was expected. In this case user needs to set the scale factor to 100. The scale factor must be changed in ‘Isometric Configuration’ dialog from corresponding Detail Sketch node, as shown in below image. By default it is set as ‘1’. See image below: Note: Modeler can also set the Naming pattern, Border size, levels and choice of placing the detail drawing in isometric using the above UI. To Label Detail Sketch name, modify the text shown as per below image. B. To enter Details Sketch information in OpenPlant Modeler 1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler, Select Project unit, say Metric here. 2. Place a pipeline with few components. 3. Right click on one component and go to ‘Miscellaneous’ tab. 4. Under Detail_Sketch property field, fill in the cell name present under detail_Sketch cell library. See image below: 5. Generate an iso sheet and publish an I model. 6. Launch OpenPlant Isometrics Manager. 7. Generate isometrics and verify results. See image below.
