Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler, OpenPlant Isometric Mananger, Microstation V8i, Bentley Navigator V8i, All other Bentley Platform products Version(s): V8 and above Environment: N/A Area: N/A Subarea: N/A Original Author: Jesse Wolfe, Bentley Technical Support Group Overview Since many OpenPlant users are using the PDx Manager tools to move their PDS data forward to be managed in OpenPlant, it is a fair assumption that some may want to instal OpenPlant on the same machine as existing PDS installations. However, there is a conflict. PDS installs a set of Environment Variables as listed below: FW_PRODUCT C:\win32app\ingr\FWP MS C:\win32app\ingr\ustation\Program\MicroStation MS_CONFIG C:\win32app\ingr\ustation\Program\MicroStation\config\mslocal.cfg MS_EDG C:\win32app\ingr\ustation\Program\EDG MS_EXE C:\win32app\ingr\ustation\Program\MicroStation MUCFPL_DIR C:\win32app\ingr\FWP\bin PARNU_SUPPORT C:\win32app\ingr\PARNU\SUPPORT PEHVAC C:\win32app\ingr\PEHVAC RHALT_DIR C:\win32app\ingr\RHALT\ RWAY_FHN C:\win32app\ingr\ustation\Program\MicroStation\mdlapps In particular, the MS_CONFIG variable will force Bentley products to load the CFG file installed with Microstation J. The product will return errors and be unable to load. There is a valid workaround to force the product to load the local workspace. There are two modifications in order to complete the workaround: Modify the Icon used to launch the product The first step is to modify the icon used to launch the product. Right click on the icon and go to properties. In the target field, append the string to include the following: "C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\OpenPlantModeler\OpenPlantModeler.exe" "-wcC:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\OpenPlantModeler\config\mslocal.cfg" **Please verify these paths for accuracy in your system** Modify the mslocal.cfg Once the icon is forced to load the proper mslocal.cfg, you must also adjust this file so that the paths within cannot be overridden by the environment variables set by PDS. This is accomplished by changing the 2nd and 3rd lines of this file. Where there is currently a ":" in each line you should replace it with a "=". This will force the local workspace to load. **It should be noted that this workaround is not designed for systems employing a managed workspace from ProjectWise.** See Also [[Product TechNotes and FAQs]] External Links Bentley Technical Support KnowledgeBase Bentley LEARN Server Comments or Corrections?
