Applies To        Product(s): Bentley OpenPlant Modeler   Version(s): 08.11.09.383+   Environment:  any   Area:  Component   Subarea:  Data   Original Author: Justinas Lipnickas, Bentley Technical Support Group     When moving from a current PSDS system, users could require to migrate their existing PSDS Catalogs / Specifications to OpenPlant format. For that Exchange software, included in OpenPlant Specification Generator V8i can be used. Background To enable the migration, you need to have OpenPlant SS5 or later installed, including PSDS migration tools. Also, access to PSDS datasbase, including your catalogs is required. Steps to Accomplish Open OpenPlant Specification Generator, select OpenPlant Project where you have your PSDS migration mappings configured. Launch Exchange software by going File - Exchange... In the Exchange dialog, click New. Enter a Definition Name and click OK. In the Details section, select a Source type from the drop down list. This is the source database that you want to import/export. Select PSDS Catalog(s) for source and OpenPlant for target. Click browse button (...) next to Source to define your PSDS datasource and other settings. For this article I'll use PSDS_Imperial_sample project and it's PSDS database english.mdb: If you'll migrating catalogs, leave 'Read Spec Data' unchecked; In Spec Name field, enter the Catalogs/Specs you'd like to convert. Leaving this field empty would convert all of the catalogs in the PSDS database, what could take a long time. To add multiple entries, separate them by semicolon (;) Select your Spec Units (IN); Define settings for target, similar to source. Make sure to select the target OPP folder, the folder where you would like to store the results. Finally, we need to create a query, by which components should be selected from PSDS catalog. Generally, if you want to include all components from the Catalog/Spec you defined, just use PIPING_COMPONENT, and it will include all of Piping components with-in the catalog. If you need only some specific components from your PSDS spec, use an OpenPlant equivalent of that component in the Query, for example PIPE_ELBOW for your PIPE_PELB PSDS components. When done adding your queries, click Execute to begin conversion. Usually it will take some time to complete the conversion. Progress window is displayed with details about the conversion progress. Once completed review the generated .mdb files within the target folder to see your converted Catalogs. See Also [[OPPID - Using PSDS Specs]]
